This afternoon I was invited by my fellow volunteers to join the 30th Celebration of the Filipino Community in the Holy Family Church.
Good food, my homeland local dishes… Hmmm… Yummy!!!
There were inspiring speeches and talks.
There were singing. There were also performances of the folk dances from the different regions of our country. Reminiscing the old days when I used to witness such when I was home.
‘Bakya’ dance, the oldies footwear that can produce lively tunes and rhythms famous in Luzon.
‘Kapa Malong’ a native dance from Mindanao region. Them along worn by Muslims in the country. The dance showed how to wear the cloth in many artistic and graceful ways.
‘Maglalatik’ from my region Visayas. Maglalatik refers to the person who makes the local sticky and sweet coconut food known as ‘latik’. This dance is very fun because the dancers put the coconut husks on their bodies.
My favorite is from Visayan region, the bamboo dance known as ‘Tinikling’.
I enjoyed the great and creative performances. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done!!! I am a newbie but I felt that I am welcomed.
I am happy and I know it. Thank you, Lord for new acquaintances and giving me the opportunity to serve You by sharing my talents.
May the Holy Trinity: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit will bless us in all our endeavors. God bless to all!!!
