Empty Seat

Cover those delicate ears
Listen for the music is on
Ignore those passersby
Bury your head in those words
Digest and absorb the lessons
Recall the notes and textbooks
Have you seen your mentors?
Almost time, too much pressure

The seat is the little scene
A stage of the unknown character
Viewed by the secret audience
The applause is in silence
Admiration and praises unsaid
Days has passed, curtains down
No one will be sitting there

Finally, he wins the prize
Her prayers for him are heard
Good fortune befalls upon him
He takes a bow and said adieu
No more show he’s not coming back
The old seat is still there
Filled with so many new faces
But it feels empty in his absence
